The start you off service is exactly what it says. If you think you'd like to research your own family but don't know where to start this is for you! As long as you can provide an ancestor's name, we'll send you 2 certificates, the 1901 (or 1911) census and advice on what to do next.
Don't forget, if you struggle there are other solutions that may help such as our ad-hoc research or pay as you grow option. Whatever problem you come across you know we can help.

'ONE LINE' PACKAGE

We'll aim to trace one line of your family tree, from a given starting point back to the early 1800s.
By using census records and birth/marriage/death indexes, we'll detail your direct male line - that is you, then your dad, then your grandad, your great grandad for example. You'll discover a wealth of information about your ancestors; what they did for a living, where they lived, who they married, where they were born, and also other members of their household, children and siblings, as revealed by the censuses.
Of course, it doesn't have to be your father - it could be from your mother, then her mother or father.

This is like the 'One Line' package but also includes three certificates.
This means that the records obtained from the census have been cross referenced to the certificates and will give added 'proof' to your ancestry.

We'll aim to trace two lines of your family tree, for example your mother's surname and your father's surname, from a given starting point back to the early 1800s. By using census records and birth/marriage/death indexes, we'll detail the two direct male lines - father, grandfather, great grandfather etc. You'll discover a wealth of information about your ancestors; what they did for a living, where they lived, who they married, where they were born, and also other members of their household, children and siblings, as revealed by the censuses. It doesn't have to be your mother's surname and your father's surname - you may want to just concentrate one side of you parents lineage, it's up to you!

Sibling Research
This can greatly enhance your family history and can be done at extra cost. Perhaps after you've received a package and got the bug!, you may want to consider this as an add on. This would be discussed on an individual basis but would generally work out at about £10 per sibling (up to 5 generations per sibling).

'AD HOC' RESEARCH
Ad hoc research is useful for those of you who may be undertaking your own research but have hit a wall, or you may have something specific you want me to look into. At £10.00 an hour with no minimum, this may be what you need - and you never know, an hour might be enough. It's amazing what you can find if you know where to look!

A QUICK NOTE ABOUT BMD CERTIFICTAES
Now you've had a look at what we offer, we want to point out some info about ordering Birth, Marriage and Death (known as BMD) certificates.
Though BMD certificates tend only to be ordered for the 'PLUS' packages, we may on occasion still have to order them during the course of our research for any package - for example - if it is a common name or cases of illegitimacy etc.
In cases where it is necessary to order a BMD certificate and it is not part of the package you have selected, WE WILL NOT PROCEED WITHOUT DISCUSSING IT WITH YOU FIRST.
Unlike other Genealogy sites and family tree researchers, we only charge for certificates at cost. You can order them yourself for £9.25 (Scottish and Irish certs cost £10/EUR8) and that is exactly what we charge (plus postage).
